Blog Beta
So, it’s been another good while since I’ve last updated my blog entries. Interestingly enough, I really feel like talking about this, since I haven’t mentioned anything positive on the computers & technology part of this blog in a while. I’ve been working on another blog server: a BETA for a new blog platform. The beta had A LOT of moving parts, which allowed me to learn a lot of new stuff related to server and secure web management, system security, and system maintenance. I’ll break it all down simple.
BBQ Day
Well, this should be good! This the my last night of work until Friday, and my last block of nights for this month of August.
Today is the day the boss has his personal security team BBQ get-together at his personal home with the team, alongside our new Executive Director. Both great guys, it should be a good time, and one of the last times we may all be able to get together before summers’ end. I’m expecting to have a good time.
Another Slow Weekend
Hello again! I know I have not tuned in for quite a while again since my last post. I had four days off of work, and I made sure to spend them out of town with mum once again. It was great. I am back to work again, night #2 of 3 which will end Monday morning, then I will be off until the next Friday morning. The long stretch breaks are quite nice indeed, and I’ve been able to use the time to effectively recouperate. This weekend has been a slower weekend client wise, so I’ve had a lot of time to think about things and kick back a bit.
The Beginning of Another Week
So, the exhibition was FINALLY finished Sunday, August 2! It will nice to get that out of the way, so daily life around the workplace can finally return to normal. Regular traffic, places to park, and most importantly, peace and quiet. The same shenanigans we see every year is what we ended up seeing again this year. The fights, the bear spray, the rowdy teenagers running around causing problems all over the place. It’s all OVER for another year.
Final Day of The Work Week
The last day of my current work week and pay period is about to come to a close. Once again, another rather busy day during the morning, before closing out much slower and quiet during the afternoon hours before finishing up at 1900hrs. The hot summer sun has been less intense today as well, which means that the building has been more comfortable for my clients to sleep and recover! It sure takes a bit of a toll off of all of us as well.
The Past Few Weeks...
The past few weeks have seemingly been brutal. However, the network migration to the new Cisco switch is finally complete. Everything is working, all servers are running, everything connects properly, and speeds are good.
On another front, work in the mental health and addictions space has been very hectic! Working with and seeing multiple new clients is refreshing, but tragically, the drugs are continuing to get worse and worse. The poverty and housing crisis has reached levels we have never seen before, and the demand keeps climbing exponentially as each day rolls on.
Working on building up my homelab
I guess we will say this is my first REAL post.
I’ve been working hard all weekend on setting up this new blog and reworking my homelab. I’ve learned a lot of stuff so far.
The blog is running on some web-hosting environment virtual machines based on the network. It’s been a lot.
Purpose
I’m currently learning Markdown to be able to make these posts and put them up onto the blog.
